United Nude has some awesome wedge sandals for Spring... I could not wait to get my hands (feet) on them. A few weeks time and it is already Summer (here) so I will temporarily say goodbye to my jackets and cardigans. Buying jacket in Summer is not prohibited so I still have an excuse if I will buy a Burberry jacket that is not so fond of receiving hugs... that is, if I have the budget. Owning an Hermes satchel would be tantamount to asking for world peace so I will just probably have an almost similar design from other bag designers. Katy Perry probably is  applying  to become Victoria's Secret Angel so she wore angel wings during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.

Protect yourself from the wind

Image
I need not go to Chicago to have my hair blown by the wind. Where I am right now is enough for me to experience the wind. It has always been like this in the Philippines when the snow from other parts of the world starts to melt and the Northeast monsoon gushes towards the Southeast. If I could no longer bear to shower directly from the shower head, it is already a sign that I should stock up on products with moisturizers and thick clothes to keep me warm and moisturized 24/7. A lip balm to lock in moisture thus preventing chapped lips. Burt's Bees nourishing lip balm , $2.99 at Small Flower. If you look pale without lipstick, here is Lip Fusion  Balm by Fusion Beauty . It will give your lips color and then moisturize it up to 6,000% if you use it continuously for 4 weeks. That's a lot of moisture! Get this at Beauty.com for $22. The face needs as much moisturizing as the lips. Try this Sephora instant moisturizer , $20 at Sephora. This has HydroSenn+ that not only...

Oprah's 2010 Favorite Things

Image
I am such an avid fan of the Oprah Show.  I wish that I could watch her live but it is just me dreaming.  I was saddened by the news that the show will come to an end soon.  Of all her episodes, it is Oprah's Favorite Things that I really love watching.  I get a happy headache after watching the episode.  I could just imagine taking all those wonderful items for free.  I believe the most expensive thing she has ever given on the episode was an LG refrigerator with built-in television.  How cool is that? The network decided to postpone their 2009 Favorite Things episode because of the recession.  I think it's a wise thing to do.  Now, a year after that, she gave away really really cool items for her live audience.  Here are some of those amazing items. A Philip Stein diamond watch worth $2,475. Tory Burch tote worth $250 and Tory Burch 'Reva Ballerina' flat worth $195. Nikon D3100 digital SLR camera worth $700. Cashmere sweater an...

Bad Fad: Rompers and Jump Suits

Image
Rompers and jump suits worn by any kid (even teens) will perhaps make them land on the cutest do's in town, but for a grown up woman to wear such hideousness is a sure entrance ticket to the worst don'ts of all and this blog's Bad Fad edition.  Grown up stars wearing this, they will be punished, are Lauren Conrad , Mary J. Blige , Jessica Biel , Evangeline Lilly ,  and Tina Fey (would you believe?).  I can be forgiving if rompers and jump suits will be worn inside the house and not on the red carpet, unless your intention is to have a wedgy that you can proudly show off to paparazzis or unsuspecting innocent bystanders.

Green Couture

Image
Hurray for Mother Earth!   Yesterday was a busy day, it is Earth Day celebration, and people from all over the world contributed something to save our dear earth.  One event that caught my attention was the The GreenShows runway show that features dresses made out of recycled materials.  Gary Harvey, former creative director of Levi's Strauss and Dockers Europe, was the designer who wowed the audience during the event.   I especially love the dress in photo that says what Mother Earth wants to say to us.  To check out other recycled couture, click here .

Who Are They Wearing: The Oscars 2010

Image
Congratulations Sandy!  I think Sandra Bullock is the best dressed during the Oscars.  She is wearing a beaded Marchesa gown that made her statuesque.  Her hair and makeup are flawless... even if she didn't win (but she won!), this look is 100% a winner.     This is a different take on what Cameron usually wears during any awards night.  I thought she'd wear something like Maggie Gyllenhaal's or a brighter colored version of Kristen Stewart's.  This glittery gown by Oscar Dela Renta looks stunning on her.  Her hair made her look like somebody else but nevertheless, she looks great.     Motherhood really made Nicole Richie bloom!  After having two cute babies, Nicole emerged to become a lovely butterfly and this picture proves that.  No other Hollywood celeb can pull off this Reem Arca number.  In front, she looks sophisticated and reserved but at the back, she screams I am a sexy woman.   Another unexpect...

In for Spring

Image
Shopping sites banner gives its shoppers a hint on what is in this spring. Spring trends on the runways like nudes and pastels, animal prints, florals, fringes and latticeworks are resonating in shopping sites--you will never be lost in finding the latest trends this season.   Neiman Marcus shouts Flora & Fauna in their site and offering designs by Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Stuart Weitzman, Guiseppe Zanotti and others.  Stand-out designs are strappy sandals in nude and animal prints, hobos and totes in spring colors and floral designs are the new arrivals for the season, while dresses that are beautifully draped or in tribal prints are in.   Bloomingdale's  makes the cut in their banner by showcasing shoes in latticework, fringe and weaving. Again tribal print and nude tops are the latest additions, while studs and animal prints rule the bags for the season.   Macy's combined tough and tender to emphasize the ruling trends this season.  Mixing ruffle...

In The Mood for Nude

Image
Nude is one of the re-appearing trends in the runways and I couldn't agree less if designers always include it in their collection regardless of the season because it is a versatile color and although it washes out fair skinned, it is generally flattering.  Hollywood stars like Penelope Cruz , Sienna Miller and even Angelina Jolie strutted a nude gown with a dramatic side slit during the Cannes Film Festival.  The Golden Globes was also not spared by nude gorgeous gowns.  Here are some nude things that you might want to include in your wardrobe. This Valentino Glamorous Bow Pumps, $695 at Saks Fifth Avenue , with the bow detail at the back made this pump really interesting.  Wear with a dress that shows your legs so that your friends will ogle with envy at the beauty of your shoe.  The D&G Royal Peep-toe Pump gives the same effect as the Valentino pump for a fraction of the cost.  Get this at Forward Forward for $315 (previously $525).   Thi...

Queen Gwyneth of Jackets and Cardigans

Image
Gwyneth Paltrow is the Queen of Jackets and Cardigans.  I like the way she mixes jackets and cardigans with couture dresses and results were stunning.  A few Hollywood celebrities has tried this but most of them failed miserably.   She paired this sparkling Versace minidress with a cardigan and the result was so cool.     She added more attitude to the white Calvin Klein dress with her Balmain blazer and Roger Vivier heels.     My favorite of them all is this beaded Balmain minidress that she wore with a jacket and a 4-inch Alexander McQueen heels. Blazers and jackets are all over the runway shows and I have found something that I would definitely want to see her wear.   The first time I saw this, her name was the first to enter my mind.  This ensemble from Blumarine Spring 2010 RTW collection became interesting because of the zipper details on the skirt and on the sleeves, this look can be worn in the office, the jacket may be worn ...

Office Appropriate

What is appropriate to wear in the office depends on what kind of job you do.  If you are working in a bank, insurance company or any financial institution, wearing too bright colors for a dress and too many accessories is really unacceptable.  But, if you are working in an advertising firm which is a more relaxed office setting, colors are a great way to perk up your mood and your office's.  For the sake of generalization on how to look appropriate in the office, here are some pointers. SHOES 1. Never ever wear sneakers even if it is a washday. 2. Strappy sandals and slippers are a no-no.  If you want to bare your clean and polished toenails, peep-toe pumps will do the trick. 3. Do not wear overly high heels... unless you work as a stripper. 4. Animal print shoes has a borderline for tacky and chic.  It is tacky if you are wearing animal print shoes with animal print coat and animal print bag.  One animal print something is chic. 5.  Wearing an...

Image
Photo courtesy of mystyle.com Fergie and Katharine McPhee has been spotted wearing tees with hand print.  Fergie looks like she's a mobster while Katharine's got a hippie vibe.  I am not saying this is a good trend to follow but if in case you want to own a shirt or two, consider these options:   SPLURGE This is 3.1 Phillip Lim is exactly the same as Katharine's.  Get this at Barney's for $150.00.
