The Inaugural Address of Benigno S. Aquino III (Official English Translation)

Here is the official English translation of President Noynoy Aquino's speech after inauguration.  This will be our basis of his performance for his entire term as the 15th president of the Philippines.   His Excellency Jose Ramos Horta, Former President Fidel V. Ramos, Former President Joseph Estrada, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and members of the Senate, House Speaker Prospero Nograles and members of the House, justices of the Supreme Court, members of the foreign delegations,Your Excellencies of the diplomatic corps, fellow colleagues in government, aking mga kababayan. My presence here today is proof that you are my true strength. I never expected that I will be here taking my oath of office before you, as your president. I never imagined that I would be tasked with continuing the mission of my parents. I never entertained the ambition to be the symbol of hope, and to inherit the problems of our nation. I had a simple goal in life: to be true to my parents

Inauguration of the Philippines' New President

Image
At exactly 12 noon of June 30, Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III became the new President of the Republic of the Philippines.  It is a holiday today to give a chance for Filipinos to witness this momentous event in the history of the Philippines.  President Noynoy Aquino is the 15th president of the Philippines and the first bachelor to take the highest government position.  The highlight of the ceremony was his first speech as a president.  Aside from the many reforms and projects he mentioned for his term, he said that reconciliation will only happen once justice has been served and that corrupt government officials will be held liable for their act.  His speech lasted for 20 minutes as opposed to the 10-minute duration that was announced earlier.  It was said that P-Noy--the President's moniker, made 9 revisions of his speech because he wanted to deliver everything in detail.  Ninety percent of his speech was  in Tagalog to deliver his message of change to the Filipinos. The

Gorgeous Tail Lights

Image
Car enthusiasts are dying (not literally) to have LED and euro tail lights   because it enhances the beauty of their car and it can be customized.  I am not a car enthusiast but I like to look at them.  For me, it is enough to have the original tail lights of my car as long as they are working, but for others it is a statement.  Like in fashion, you don't want to be the stereotypical one... you want to stand out. I will not talk about the specs of an ideal car... heck, I don't even know what are those things but, I think the one thing that makes a car look good is its tail lights.  Am I weird?  It is the one that passengers and drivers will see in front during heavy traffic so might as well make the rear end look gorgeous, right? What is with these tail lights that car enthusiasts are crazy about?  You can choose to install fiber optic or LED on your car's tail lights or you can combine the two... it all depends on how fierce you want the tail lights to be.  I have see

The Coveted Hermes Birkin Bag

Image
I admit to collecting bags when I was still economically capable of buying 'expensive' ones... that was like two years ago.  My means to finally get out of the habit of compulsive bag buying was to purge most of the bags.  It was a heart breaking experience but I survived the ordeal... I am still here, purchasing shoes to compensate for the loss.  Defending starts here: At least I can wear those shoes everyday in the office.  Continuing, I am sticking to one big bag that my friend gave me last Christmas.  I was actually the one who chose the color.  Oh, I almost forgot about the Hermes Birkin Bag in the picture ... it is up for grabs on eBay and the current price is $77,999.  Gasp!  That is around 3 million pesos!  This limited edition Birkin is made of crocodile skin, 5.72 carats of diamonds and 18 carat white gold details.  I am still gasping for air!   Do I sense a certain woman named Victoria clicking on this link right now to offer her price?

Stars Who Doesn't Age

Image
Life really is unfair... for people who has no means to always look good, that is.  Just look at Jennifer Lopez's photo when she was 31 years old and her recent photo at age 40... I couldn't see any signs of aging AT ALL.  She actually looks good now than when she was in her 30s.  If you want to see more photos of Hollywood stars who defy the aging process, click here and you will be amazed.  Curse them! Haha! I am just really wondering why the trending topic of this blog is aging.  I am still in my 20s for Pete's sake and 30 would still be like 2 years from now.

Insurance Plan

I am nearing my 30s (shivers) and I have a dependent 2-year old son which made me decide to research for an insurance plan that suits my needs and my budget. Aside from the latter two considerations in applying for an insurance policy, the company should also be established and respected in their field. There are a lot of insurance policies that has flexible packages to meet the customers needs--medical, educational, funeral, life and retirement among others.  If you choose any or all of the mentioned packages, it is important that you have a full understanding of the coverage, the mode of payment and other important details.  It is never wrong to ask question with regards to the product or service that you will buy--more so for an insurance policy where you will invest your hard earned money.  I haven't decided yet on which company I will apply but I am considering America Life Quotes .  I saw their website and it clearly  answered almost all my questions in just a click.  If yo

Bad Fad: Bras Peeking Out

Image
WARNING! This blog post contains photo and/or words that may be offensive to minors.  Please do not read this with a kid beside you.  In case the kid has already read this, carefully explain the proper use of underwear--bra for that matter. Photo from frankyvoigt. Under normal circumstances--meaning, you are not acting a whore's role in a movie or play--you should not let your bra peek out of your clothes... unless your shirt is sewn with the bra in front.  I don't know what it is with some female celebrities who find happiness wearing clothes that shows off their bras.  It is a NO in any angle no matter how expensive your bra is.

Blog Entry of the Day: Happy Birthday To Me by my BFF

Image
My BFF celebrates her 28th birthday today without me and her family by her side.  She works in Bangladesh while trying to move on (?).  She celebrated her birthday today with a blog thanking God for the wonderful experiences she had in the past 27 years of her life and she prays to become wiser and more mature.  We had a little chat a while ago and I miss her.  The photo above was taken last year, our last summer together before she went to Bangladesh.

Bad Fad: Rompers and Jump Suits

Image
Rompers and jump suits worn by any kid (even teens) will perhaps make them land on the cutest do's in town, but for a grown up woman to wear such hideousness is a sure entrance ticket to the worst don'ts of all and this blog's Bad Fad edition.  Grown up stars wearing this, they will be punished, are Lauren Conrad , Mary J. Blige , Jessica Biel , Evangeline Lilly ,  and Tina Fey (would you believe?).  I can be forgiving if rompers and jump suits will be worn inside the house and not on the red carpet, unless your intention is to have a wedgy that you can proudly show off to paparazzis or unsuspecting innocent bystanders.

Fight the Signs of Aging

Image
I have asked this one time in this blog: Will you consider going under the knife?  I mentioned not long ago about my accepting the fact that in two years time I will no longer be considered as a 20 something blogger.  The last statement isn't going to confirm that I will consider cosmetic surgery.  I know I wouldn't.  I just want to establish one point here... that I, like everybody else, will have visible signs of aging in no time if we will not do something to prevent its early occurrence.  I am sweating a bit about the 'aging' word.  I admit to not really taking care of my skin, I just put lotion on my body, wash my face with a facial wash when I wake up and before I sleep and if I am in the mood, I'd probably put a toner.  That is just about it.  I don't remember going for a facial or a dermatologist for that matter.  Well, now I realize that I have been a bad girl.  It is not yet late for me to change my skin care routine, I am actually truly considering

New Look

As you will notice, my blog has a new look (background and layout).  I don't know what came into my mind today that made me finally change its look.  Remember I said before that I will not change its layout... ok, so I ate my words.  I am, as a matter of fact, satisfied of the result.  Again, The Cutest Blog On the Blog provided the background and I tried Blogger's new layout. What do you think?

The Smurfs Movie

Image
Do you remember these blue guys?  The Smurfs is one of my favorite cartoons and my original favorite blue fictional characters (Avatar is my second favorite).  They're over 50 years old but they are making a comeback but now in the big screen and they look better, too.  The Smurfs movie will be shown on 2011--that's something to look forward to.  Papa Smurf will have the voice of Jonathan Winters, George Lopez is Grouchy, Fred Armisen of SNL is Brainy, Pee Wee Herman will be Jokey Smurf and Smurfette will have the voice of Katy Perry .  I wonder if Smurfette will be as quirky and playful as Katy.  Let's just wait and see.

Happy Father's Day

It is our dear dad's day on Sunday and I'll just probably pop my Papa a message (response not required but it will be highly appreciated).   I didn't grow up with my dad.  When Mama went abroad to work, my siblings and I were left in the care of our aunts and grandparents.  I don't know exactly what happened why such a set-up came about, all I know is that I would rush to my aunt's house across the street if I have a feeling that Papa will arrive with some goodies for us... I was almost always lucky about my gut feeling.  When I turned 9, there's no more bags of goodies and no more Papa to wait.  I saw him again during my sister's college graduation.  After 10 long years, I was able to hug him again.  I remember whenever I get sick he would buy me a burger as my medicine, he would cook simple but delicious meals, tell funny stories and play with us until we get tired and fall asleep.  Those were the days.  I don't have ill feelings about his absence whe

Food For Thoughts: What Makes You Happy?

Image
I rekindled my relationship with StumbleUpon and I stumbled upon this cartoon of Calamities of Nature and I thought of sharing this to you.  In my entry before this , I mentioned asking myself if I have enjoyed the 28 years of my life and I said at some point I actually have.  I just find it interesting that some people spend their whole life trying to make everyone happy but not really feeling happy about what they are doing.  In the case of this cartoon, pleasing everybody but not making them happy.  What makes you happy?  I asked this once to my boss and she answered by asking me the same question.  Is it right to depend your happiness to the happiness of others???  This thought just rang a bell.

Weekend Blues

I am kinda gloomy today, maybe because of the weather and I wasn't able to go out the whole weekend.  My anticipation for the long weekend remained just an anticipation.  I am still not ready for the rainy season.  Oh, I forgot, another reason for my being a bummer for three days is because I was thinking of how to survive my weekend VA task in one piece.  I am not complaining but everything was just new... it felt like the first day of school.  Anyway, I survived it... not really, but at least I am still in my sanity.   I joined the 20 Something Bloggers' group, as you can see on the left sidebar that I have a badge.  I joined just because I am qualified and if I will not join within the next two years, you will see a different badge.  Gee!  I couldn't believe that I am nearing my 30s.  I have to prepare for that transition... how?  30... 30... 30... shivers!!!  Slathering more goo to eliminate signs of aging might do.  Haha!  On a more serious note, have I really enjoyed

Favorite Photo of the Day: Do Not Be A Drunkard or Else...

Image
I found this photo on Chillout Point and I thought men and women should think twice about getting drunk even if they are around their best buds because if they get drunk too and there's no more beer, this could happen.  Imagine waking up with a severe headache, feeling nauseated, and looking like a doodle pad of a three year-old kid all at the same time.  You will be owned man!  Haha!

Showing Love and Care

Last night I was teary eyed remembering what happened last Sunday night.  It was a really unexpected moment from someone who is a fraction of my age--my son. Lance and I went home after exchanging stories with our grandmother from across the street.  We went directly inside the room to watch his favorite DVD and for me to lie down because my stomach aches.  I asked Lance to play with his toy cars for a while for me to take a rest.  Instead of playing, he asked me if he could take a look.  He put his hand on my tummy and gently massaged it.  He said, ''Let's go to the doctor and he will put water (intravenous fluid line) on your hand''.  He embraced me after that.  I nearly cried of his caring and loving gesture.  I forgot about the pain and I just gave him a kiss.

Mobility Aid

Image
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA . All opinions are 100% mine. We had a seminar about two years ago emphasizing that a person has to always think of excellence in everything that he does and it was initially presented with two disabled partners dancing--a woman has only one arm and her partner has only one leg.  Now, you can start wondering how did they manage to dance... they danced without riding a wheel chair or any mobility aid.  We were simply amazed. Of course the two dancer underwent training to do those graceful moves.  There are a lot of institutions who assist disabled individuals, elderly too, to learn how to do things that a non-disabled person can do and assist in finding a suitable mobility aid for them because no two persons have the same disability or mobility requirement--everything is personalized.  One organization that does this is NMEDA  (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association).  NMEDA does not sell mobility aids but assist i

Waiting Sucks

Waiting for Wednesday to come seems like waiting forever.  I have no internet connection since Friday and my virtual world has turned upside down.  Now, I have to wait in line to use a computer with internet access in my neighbor's internet cafe... that means limited time too because my son's 'stay put' mode only happens in 10 minutes per day.  I don't know how long I can live up to this.  Yesterday, I bought 5 DVDs to keep me company at night.  I don't deserve this, I have been a really good girl.

Annalynne's Transformation

Image
Photo courtesy of omg! Annalynne McCord's fashion transformation is impressive.  She was seen wearing a Stacey Bendet gown with crystal embellishments and ruffled detailing during the Alliance for Women in Media's 2010 Gracie Awards last May 25.  If you will compare this picture to this picture last February ... this girl deserves a standing ovation. Keep it up girl!

Food for Thoughts: Looking Back To Where You Started

Image
I bought my son a Cars movie CD in SM Mall of Asia about two weeks ago and he's never watched any other movie since then, in fact I am close to memorizing every dialogue of every character.  Cars is a story about a race car named Lighting McQueen who boasts that he doesn't need anybody to win.  One fateful night while heading towards California to beat the triple tie, his driver Mack accidentally left him in the middle of the street while he sleeps.  McQueen searched for Mack but instead of finding him or the interstate, he finds himself in Radiator Springs and he was not allowed to left unless he fix their road.  While doing community service, Tow Mater, a tow truck was assigned to look after him.  Mater is an old rusty truck who finds happiness and contentment with the simplest of things.  One night, while driving back to the town, Mater boasts that he is the best backwards driver in the world... he even showed if off to McQueen and said: "I don't need to know where
