Inauguration of the Philippines' New President

At exactly 12 noon of June 30, Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III became the new President of the Republic of the Philippines.  It is a holiday today to give a chance for Filipinos to witness this momentous event in the history of the Philippines.  President Noynoy Aquino is the 15th president of the Philippines and the first bachelor to take the highest government position.  The highlight of the ceremony was his first speech as a president.  Aside from the many reforms and projects he mentioned for his term, he said that reconciliation will only happen once justice has been served and that corrupt government officials will be held liable for their act.  His speech lasted for 20 minutes as opposed to the 10-minute duration that was announced earlier.  It was said that P-Noy--the President's moniker, made 9 revisions of his speech because he wanted to deliver everything in detail.  Ninety percent of his speech was  in Tagalog to deliver his message of change to the Filipinos.

The Aquino government promises change but it will only happen if we will unite and help each other.
