Movie Review: Kita Kita (I See You)

Image
They say "Love is blind", while others say "the lovers are". Whichever you believe in, one thing is for sure, love comes in the most unexpected way. Kita Kita  (I See You) is not the typical romantic comedy film you see regularly in theaters. Lea (Alessandra de Rossi) and Tonyo (Empoy Marquez) are the main characters of the movie--they are the most unconventional pair but I was surprised by their chemistry. Their acting was so unbelievable that they made me believe everything is real.  I laughed and cried. It made me think. It made me see what the eyes can't.

New Book: Life of Pi by Yann Martel

Image
Life of Pi is a story of a boy named Piscine (Pi), who became trapped with a Bengal tiger for 227 days after their ship sank in the Pacific Ocean together with his family. It is basically a story of faith, hope, friendship and survival. I was lucky to have seen this movie last week. It moved my faith to another level. Do you believe in God? If not, this book (and movie) will make you become a believer.

New Book: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Image
Do you know this symbol? It is the mocking jay from Suzanne Collins' famous book The Hunger Games. And you probably already know that this is the symbol of Katniss Everdeen --the girl on fire, the hero of the story. This book is not really mine. An office mate just had me borrow this in exchange of Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol  that I bought a few months ago. I have seen this movie and I am hoping a part two will be shown soon. And while part 2 is still in the making, I might as well re-live the scenes of the breakout movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, through this book.

New Book: Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

Image
I haven't read The Notebook  but I have seen the movie which made me more curious about reading Nicholas Sparks's Dear John . I bought an e-book from Amazon and although I am only on the fifth page, I already began to feel the emotion of John Tyree towards life and the only woman he loves and will ever love--Savannah Curtis. I could not believe I have neglected reading for a long time that I am actually reading books from years back only today. It was actually made into a movie in 2009 starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. Oh! The heart throbbing moments...

The Best Quotes from The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

Image
"You are my best friend as well as my lover, and I do not know which side of you I enjoy the most. I treasure each side, just as I have treasured our life together." "You and I were different. We came from different worlds, and yet you were the one who taught me the value of love. You showed me what it was like to care for another, and I am a better man because of it. I don't want you to ever forget that." "She was my dream. She made me who I am, and holding her in my arms was more natural to me than my own heartbeat. I think about her all the time. Even now, when I am sitting here, I think about her. There could have never been another."

The Avengers

Image
Finally! After a week of waiting for a day off, I finally had the chance to watch The Avengers with my son, sister and nieces. It was absolutely fantastic! I hope they will launch it in 3D! Who is your favorite Avenger? My son and I favors Capt. America while my sister and nieces adore Iron Man. Of course the rest of them were great. Thor is the hottest demigod (I should have watched the movie), Black Widow is bad ass babe, Hulk is adorable despite being green and Hawk Eye is so mysterious. I love all of them!

The Hunger Games

Image
I will see this movie this week. My friends who have watched this gave positive reviews so that made me more excited to see this movie. I believe that Katniss will be my next girl crush (as if she isn't yet).

The Vow

Image
When my friends and I went to Baguio last week, we decided to watch The Vow. I have heard from friends that it was a nice movie and that I should watch it. This movie made me cry... maybe because I connected to the emotion of the lead actors. This movie actually made me want to fall in love again. The Vow is a story of a newly wed couple named Leo (Channing Tatum) and Paige (Rachel McAdams) whose lives turned upside down when one night their car was hit from behind by a truck. The accident made Paige in coma and when she woke up, she could not remember her life with her husband. Leo was determined to help Paige remember her life with him, even up to the extent of making personal sacrifices. Because this movie made a connection with me, I will give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Image
I had a movie date with my son earlier this day. I originally planned to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 but it's no longer in cinemas. Of the four movies being shown, Journey 2 The Mysterious Island  is the most appropriate movie for a 4-year old. Today is it's first showing day in the Philippines, for rest of the world, it will be shown on February 10th. ************ The new 3D family adventure "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" begins when seventeen-year-old Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist. Unable to stop him from tracking the signal to its source, Sean's new stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson), joins the quest that will take them first to the South Pacific, and then to a place few people have ever seen.  Or lived to tell about.   It's a place of stunning beauty, strange and threatening life forms, volcanoes, mountains of gold and more than one astonishi...

Coming Soon: Underworld: Awakening in 3D

Image
This goes into my watch list. I have seen the first two films and I liked them. I believe that part three will be as amazing as the first two. Kate Beckinsale is one sexy bad ass vampire!

Coming Soon: Snow White and the Huntsman

Image
It seems that fairy tale characters are the target of movie producers to attract moviegoers once again. This time, Snow White gets to tell her story through Kirsten Stewart who portrays the lead role. The evil queen is played by Charlize Theron--I think she is the perfect actress for the role. Chris Hemsworth will make our hearts throb as he portrays the huntsman. This story is completely different from the Snow White story we know as it narrates the other side of the story... Snow White's first savior--the huntsman who was summoned by the queen to kill her in the forest. Little did the queen know, he was secretly training Snow White in the art of war. The movie will be released on June 1, 2012.

New Book: Ligo na U, Lapit na Me by Eros S. Atalia

Image
I was able to have a quick tour inside a book store earlier this day and I didn't waste a time searching for this book by Eros S. Atalia-- Ligo na U, Lapit na Me . I first saw this book last week as I was paying for some supplies at the cashier. I thought it has a funny title. I am quite fond of reading this type of books being Bob Ong as my favorite author. It was only a few days ago that I learned from YouTube that this book was actually made into an Indie film. I clicked on the play button to take a peek and I was quite impressed of the story. Ligo na U, Lapit na Me  is a story about a college student named Intoy who had a 'special' kind of relationship with his classmate named Jenny. They do not consider themselves as a couple but they both enjoy the benefits of being one.  I love Intoy and Jenny.

Captain America

Image
Captain America is my least favorite of Marvel superheroes, but, that was before I saw the movie. Today, I was able to see the human side of Captain America--how he struggled to become a soldier and how his heart made him America's superhero. Unlike other superheroes with super powers from other planets, Captain America shows that any regular guy (skinny even) can be anyone's superhero--you just have to have the right intentions and a good heart. I am going to spill a bit about the movie... I never heard any character said 'I love you' because they really don't need to--their feelings are too obvious. I think that Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most important characters of the movie despite his less than three minutes camera exposure and a few lines. Cast of Characters: Chris Evans - Steve Rogers/Captain America Hayley Atwell - Peggy Carter Sebastian Stan - James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes Tommy Lee Jones - Colonel Chester Phillips Hugo Wea...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Image
TICKETS ARE ALREADY SOLD OUT! Geez! This is going to be the most emotional Harry Potter movie because it is the last, there will be no more. If you are a Harry Potter fan, you better not miss it! Watch the trailers here. I am going to miss Harry, Hermione, Ron and the rest of the gang. *Sob*

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Image
Just saw Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 3D and it was awesome! I just wish there were vacant seats in the middle of the theater for the ultimate 3D experience. Despite the weird subtitle, Michael Bay really did a great job directing the movie, of course, with Steven Spielberg behind him. I think Rosie's English accent is cute, I wish she had more dialogues than screams. Anyway, the movie once again revived my fantasies: Bad ass cars Hermes and Louis Vuitton bags Christian Louboutin pumps Dr. McDreamy! I am giving it 5 stars. Watch the trailer here:

Fast Five

Image
I can never have enough of really nice cars, furious Vin Diesel (Dom Toretto) driving and Paul Walker's (Brian O'Conner) gorgeous looks. Geez! I can only imagine myself being inside the car with Paul a la Jordana Brewster (Mia Toretto). I was able to watch Fast Five today. It was unplanned but I am not at all disappointed. It was a nerve racking movie from the beginning until the end. I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars.

Le Festin by Camille (Ratatouille Soundtrack)

Image
My son finds Remy cute. I find him odd because in real world, rats can't (don't and shouldn't) cook. Anyway, we both enjoy watching Ratatouille over and over again. It makes me want to go to Paris even more. I sing a long each time Le Festin plays in the background even though I could not understand a word in it or if I am pronouncing the words right, I just find the song the perfect Parisian experience if you are not in Paris.

Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules Teaser Trailer

Image
I am so going to watch this movie! I missed part 1 and I swear I will never miss part 2. I could not wait for the movie to be shown in the Philippines. I do hope my aunt will get me a DVD of the part 1. In the mean time, enjoy watching Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules teaser trailer. And as a bonus, here is Rowley's viral video.
