It's been a while...

My younger sister gave birth to a healthy boy last October 22. He looks like my son when I gave birth to him. He is too cute for words! How I wish I could carry him. They are living in another country so we'd probably see him when he is already walking. I brought up the news to dad and he asked why I didn't name my son that starts with "J"... I broke the unwritten rule... his  name starts with "J' and so are my sisters, brothers and nieces.

A few weeks ago I have been busy going around town meeting new faces, meeting clients and taking driving lessons. I don't know if I mentioned in this blog that I promise to have a driver's license before I turn the big 3-0. Yep! I already know how to drive. I'll get my non-professional license before the end of this month. SO HAPPY!

We had a Halloween party in our grandmother's house. It was organized by my cousins. They all wore costumes, we played games, we sang and danced. I dressed my son as a soldier. He even got to participate in the games. It was the first Halloween party and I bet there will be more in the years to come.

Last November 1, All Saints day, we went to the cemetery to visit our departed loved ones. It is a tradition in the Philippines in commemoration of the dead. As usual, all members of the family gathered in our family's mausoleum. There were foods. It was a reunion. It's one of the most awaited holidays of the Filipinos.

After almost two months of planning with the Philippine Marketing Association officers, we finally pushed through our benefit concert last November 4. It was not a grand event but we certainly achieved our goal. Part of the ticket sales will be given to Philippine National Red Cross and to an orphanage for the physically and mentally challenged children. 

I am back to reading. I don't spend much time online because my son always play games on the computer... which is good because it made me go back to reading... it is also bad because I don't get to update my blogs often. I was able to finish four books... it's a lame count, but, at least I get to finish them. Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom was the first book that made a huge impact in my life... it actually made me cry. For the adventurous souls, I can recommend Silverfin by Charlie Higson. It narrates the story of the young James Bond. The other two that I read were The Baker's Apprentice by Judith Ryan Hendricks and Ligo na U, Lapit na Me by Eros Atalia.

I still have one book to finish, it's Ken Follet's The Pillars of the Earth--which is in Oprah's Book Club list. It is a challenging book... with 983 pages at font 12 and single space.

Next in line is Dan Brown's Angels & Demons that I bought at Book Sale for Php180. I think there's a greater chance that I'll read this first before I continue with Ken Follet's.

Patricia Cornwell's The Last Precinct is only Php50 at Book Sale and it is in hard bound. I also saw in the same rack J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings Trilogy that they are selling for Php180 each and The Hobbit--a prelude to the trilogy, for Php225. I was thinking of buying the four but budget did not permit.
