Japan Hit by Tsunami after 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake
At around 2:46pm today, Tokyo, Japan was hit by a 8.9 magnitude earthquake that caused 20 to 33 feet high tsunami waves in Sendai of the Miyagi Prefecture. Fifty people from Tokyo were confirmed dead but officials are expecting higher numbers as they assess the extent of the damage. It was also reported that a ship of over 100 passengers was carried away by the tsunami.
In these times, all that we can do is pray and hope for the fast recovery of the affected areas.
Tsunami alert was given to nearby coastal areas of the Philippines, Hawaii and other Pacific islands.
