Is The World Nearing Its End?
Is the world nearing its end?
I hope not!
The Philippines suffered typhoon Ondoy's wrath, considered as the worst tropical depression in the Philippines. A death toll of 300 was recorded in the first 24 hours after its landfall on September 26, 2009 and it stayed in the Philippines for three days with another typhoon on its tail--typhoon Pepeng. It left millions homeless and over a thousand deaths.
On January 12, 2010, Haiti was hit by a catastrophic earthquake with a 7.0 magnitude killing over 200,000 people and leaving 1 million homeless. A magnitude 7.0 earthquake couldn't possibly produce the kind of destruction--but only for those who are prepared. The Philippines has had a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on July 16, 1990 and although many were reported dead, the Haiti earthquake was far more destructive.
Almost 20 feet of snow covered the East Coast of the United States during the snow storm on February 10, 2010. Streets were desolated, communication lines were damaged, and there were reported deaths due to accidents and hypothermia.
Chile had a 8.8 magnitude earthquake on February 27, 2010. Tsunami alerts were raised for countries with coastlines facing the Pacific Ocean, including the Philippines. The expected landfall of tsunami in the Philippines was between 1PM to 2:30 PM but fortunately nothing happened and although Japan reported a 5 feet wave, it was not enough to cause severe damage.
Just now, March 2, 2010, another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 was recorded in Tuguegarao, Philippines and although there are no reports of damage or casualties, I couldn't stop thinking why there are so many earthquakes happening in the world right now.
A friend on his Facebook status said that we should be careful if the sky changes its color because that was observed before the earthquake in Haiti and Chile occurred. Another friend speculates that the recent earthquakes and other calamities were brought about by the HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) stationed in Alaska.
With all these things happening in the world and after watching 2012 and Legion, I couldn't help but wonder if the world is already nearing its end. Has God already lost His faith in mankind and He is now slowly putting the world to an end?
Dear God, no!
