What's in for me on Valentine's Day?

This entry is not about me feeling oh so sad for being single on V-Day.  I actually have the slightest idea that in a weeks time is Valentine's because what interests me more is the Chinese New Year which happens to be on February 14, too.

Valentine's Day is not for couples only, mind you guys.  I know some people, single like me, who celebrate it more meaningfully than what typical couples do.  February 14 is the celebration of love and love is not only manifested if you have a partner--as long as you have a relationship (your family and friends), then by all means, celebrate Valentine's Day!

On V-Day I'd be at home doing domestic works.. I don't expect any gifts of any kind.  I'll have a date with my son.  I'll cook dinner form him, talk about the silliest things and sing him lullabies. While probably most couples in the metro will be battling traffic to get to their date place on time and most people in the world will haggle the last minute for the sweetest chocolates and the perfect bouquet, I will just be sitting  comfortably beside my son while watching his favorite Barney DVD.

Prince William and Kate Middleton: A Fairytale Wedding

I am one of the billion watchers from all over the world who eagerly watched the exchange of vows of the most famous couple of the century--Prince William and Kate Middleton. I actually was teary eyed while I watch Kate walk down the aisle and when she and Prince William walked on the aisle for the first time as husband and wife. It was a really touching experience although I only saw it on television.  Perhaps the most awaited reveal of the wedding is the designer of Kate's dress. Well, lo and behold, it was Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen! The dress is reminiscent of Grace Kelly's wedding dress --classy and not as grand as everybody expected it to be--but, nevertheless, seeing her in a McQueen dress is an unforgettable moment in fashion and it will surely be on the list of the most iconic dresses of all time. Hostage Drama Is Not Yet Over

I feel sad about what happened at the Quirino Grandstand a few days ago.  I purposely did not blog about it while it was happening to at least show respect for the people who are in a very difficult situation.  After many hours of negotiation that ended in a bloodbath, I just feel sorrier for the victims and my fellow Filipinos who had nothing to do with what happened that day.  I have read so many articles about countries hating the Philippines because of the tragic event.  Just now in the news, one of our Senators had a taste of their anger when an airport official in Hong Kong allegedly threw his passport.   I feel bad about the deranged former policeman, too.  He was dismissed from service because of grave misconduct and administrative charges filed against him and three other policemen when they allegedly planted a drug evidence to a chef who works in a hotel in Manila.  Justice is still not served at the time of this writing.  He was an accomplished police officer as proven by t
