Curbside Stories

I didn't bother to register at the COMELEC for this year's election because I couldn't find time in my busy schedule to take a leave. I was hoping the agency would have office on weekdays for someone as busy as I am, but to no avail. Somebody told me that if I will not register, I won't be able to vote. My mind was already set that I won't be able to exercise my right to decide for the future of our nation. The campaign went on as scheduled. I was stuck in traffic for two hours on two separate occasions because of the long campaign caravans of opposing parties. It was one hell of an afternoon ride! I was late for important appointments. A few days ago, I had a conversation with my sister about the ongoing campaign--how we both hate a particular campaign jingle, the allowed sizes for campaign posters, the tons of garbage it will leave after the election and the cunning ways a politician does and will do to win precious votes. I am a Paulo Coelho fan. I like his style of writing, he simply puts me into a different world each time I read his book. I went to a bookstore and found this book on the featured rack. I was immediately drawn to take a look and then found myself walking towards the queue at the cashier to make a purchase. I could have bought it on Kindle but holding a real book would be a nice change even for a while. I am currently on page 50 and so far so good. Here is an excerpt from the book that is inspiring. It was my second time to go to Hundred Islands, Pangasinan and the first time to tag along my son, my older sister and niece. It was a fun-filled day and I am sure my son had a blast! We arrived at Vista de las Islas (the hotel where we stayed last year) at around 1 in the morning, had a few hours of sleep and we're off to island hopping. You can tell by the look on his face that he is enjoying his first boat ride. I am so proud of my son!  I am hoping to visit again next year! There's still a lot of things to do and explore in Hundred Islands.
