Heaven and Hell

Nine days to go before the Philippines decide who should be the next president. I think I have already made my decision on who should have my vote but I will not spill the beans yet because I might change my mind the last minute. My friend sent me this email that is just perfect for the coming elections. Whoever made this, you are brilliant! Here it is. Heaven and Hell  While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Philippine Senator was tragically hit by a car and died. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. "Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you." "No problem, just let me in," says the Senator.. "Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spen

Casey James - "Don't" On American Idol TOP 6 2010 // Season 9

Crushing on Casey James

I finally got the chance to watch American Idol Season 9 after two weeks of being away from the television.  I was glad that the remaining six hopefuls were my favorites.  The result of this week's competition made me sad and made me happy all at the same time. Siobhan made it to the top 6 but during the results night, America voted it was time for her to go.  I was saddened because she's my favorite of all the girls.  I like her because she's unique and she's not afraid to show who she is. On the lighter and brighter side, I felt that country music week was the start of the competition because everyone did a great job and for the first time in AI 9, I felt Casey James singing a song.  Although, Crystal didn't wow the judges, she still has a great voice and still remains a great competitor. Going back to Casey James, my current eye candy, he sang Don't by Shania Twain and his performance was just perfect.  I tried to watch it again on You Tube and it'

Kelly Clarkson Live in Manila

Image
After David Archuleta, David Cook and Kris Allen, it is now time for Kelly Clarkson to invade Manila.  I received an email from JobsDB and they are giving away tickets for Kelly's concert in Manila on May 1, 2010 by just applying for the position of Sales Professional. Don't worry guys, you can still watch the concert buy buying your tickets at all TicketNet outlets, you can also ask for reservations by calling them at (02) 911-5555. Kelly Clarkson is the original American Idol beating Justin Guarini on the first season of AI in 2002.  To date, she holds the title for selling most number of albums of all the American Idols.  Her top selling singles are A Moment Like This, Because of You and Breakaway.

Green Couture

Image
Hurray for Mother Earth!   Yesterday was a busy day, it is Earth Day celebration, and people from all over the world contributed something to save our dear earth.  One event that caught my attention was the The GreenShows runway show that features dresses made out of recycled materials.  Gary Harvey, former creative director of Levi's Strauss and Dockers Europe, was the designer who wowed the audience during the event.   I especially love the dress in photo that says what Mother Earth wants to say to us.  To check out other recycled couture, click here .

Asos Pack of Stacked Bangles

Image
This season is about colors and chunky accessories and what better way to be attuned with the current fad is by having these stacked bangles from Asos .  Guess what?  This whole stack costs only $30.44, that is big savings.  Stack all of them or wear them in singles, it doesn't matter... you can even share them with your sister or BFF.

Self Promotion

In just four months, I have managed to create and maintain five blogs (in Blogspot alone).  My recent addition to my list of blogs is Sparkling Mode that talks about accessories and jewelries and Bag Beggar that is obviously about bags. My primary reason for creating new blogs is to try out Blogger's new templates.  I mentioned in my previous entry that I have to think about changing the look of this blog... well, I don't want to change the look.  Second reason for the creation of new blogs is that I wanted to have a dedicated blog of all the things that I like--shoes, bags and jewelries.  So guys, take peek into my blogs by clicking on the links. Dancing Heads

My sister made this video using my son's and her daughter's heads to superimpose the figure skaters'.  Funny! Personalize funny videos and birthday eCards at JibJab!

What A Week That Was!

My son just got out of the hospital.  We stayed there for two nights (the reason for my being away in the blogosphere) to observe his condition.  He was diagnosed with mild pneumonia .  I talked my son into having chest x-ray on Thursday, he liked the idea but I was inside the exposure room to make everything believable to him.   My mothering skills was put to the ultimate test the past few days.  My son would ask me if we could go home, if I could buy him his favorite foods, if he could go out of our room.  Everything was handled by talking and convincing him of the things that he should and shouldn't do.  The IV line would serve as his reminder that we are not yet allowed to go home.  Thank goodness he was ready to go home after three days.  The first thing that he did when we got home was to sleep. What a week that was!

Louis Vuitton's New Age Traveler Backpack

Image
Yikes!  Louis Vuitton is at it again!  First, there was the trash bag (Urban Satchel), then the actual trash bag (Raindrop Besace), and now this monstrosity!  At first glance it looks like a monster devouring worms... well, those are actually telephone cords.  I wonder how many telephone units were sacrificed to feed this monster of a bag.  Geez!  I couldn't comprehend why this is named New Age because for one, telephone cords are almost obsolete. Oh! I get it!  Since corded telephones will soon be obsolete, Louis Vuitton is just trying to  help Mother Earth so they thought of recycling the cords.  Maybe later they'd think of something to do with the actual telephone... a belt bag that you have to key in your PIN using the telephone dial for it to open?  The possibilities are endless.  Did that make any sense?  By the way, this bag costs $54,500!!!!  Maybe, just maybe, if anyone will buy this bag, proceeds will go to LV's supported environmental group... that's a good

Joking Around

Image
My niece and I were watching a talent search program on tv the other night and while on commercial, she said she has a joke. I just said ‘what is it?’ thinking she will give me a good laugh because I know she loves jokes. There was once a tv program about jokes and she would watch it religiously every morning at 8. She likes the show so much that she would write the jokes on her dedicated notebook and would share it with her cousins during their playtime. Here’s the joke (translated into English): What did the apple say to the pineapple? Apple: Hey! What are you looking looking looking looking looking looking looking looking looking....... turn around.... looking looking looking looking looking looking looking looking at?! She was laughing hard before she could even finish the joke. I didn’t exactly know what made me laugh—the joke or her infectious laugh.

My Little Boxing Champ

Image
His dad gave him this boxing set a few weeks ago and they were inseparable since then.  Every morning he would wear his gloves and ask me if he could go out at the yard and exercise even though he is still wearing his pajamas.  At some point, if he notices he's missing a lot of punches, he would remove his gloves...  makes me laugh actually.  For a boy his age, he is two, he punches really hard.  After minutes of hitting and missing the punching bag, he would raise his arms and throw kisses as if he fought a real fight.  I am not surprised that he likes to box because he likes Manny Pacquiao.  He knows every single product that Pacman endorses... he even tells me that the shampoo I am using is Pacman's. I don't know how long his fondness for boxing will end... or if it will end at all... either way, this picture will forever remind me that he was once my little boxing champ.

It Hurts Just By Looking At It

Image
I am not a good dancer but I like to dance.  I don't have a particular dance that I dance, I haven't tried all but I would love to if I have a chance.  I am mostly into dancing hip hop but I don't know how to break dance, I am fascinated about the twists and turns and the bone breaking moves.  I have seen women break dance but this woman... pregnant woman--break dancing is something you won't see in your daily life.  It hurts just by looking at it... fascinating but it really hurts!  It makes me dead worried!

Being A Mother

You'll never fully understand your mom unless you become a mom. It is thirty minutes past twelve midnight and I am still awake... sleepy, but trying to be awake.  My son is sick so I have to be up until 1 in the morning to give him his medicine for fever.  I am not as worried now compared last night when his fever went up to 39.5 degrees Celsius, he would wake up after only minutes of sleeping and would call me as if I am missing. I am a mom for two years now and I guess I am now into full understanding of what my mom used to tell me when I was younger.  I grew up in my great grandmother's household, my mom and I never had a chance to be together for a long time.  She works in the US since I was a child, she would go the Philippines every three years and stay for two weeks or so to be with us.  Despite the distance, she never failed to give us advice about life and some sermon about how hard it is to raise a child.  I value everything that my mother told me, more so now that

Clash of the Titans

Image
Movie critics and those who have seen the movie have clashing reviews about Clash of the Titans-- Sam Worthington's latest movie following Avatar. We all know that Avatar had high ratings and reviews, having said that, it is not unusual for critics to have high expectations from the actor. I like to watch fantasy movies, more so the stories of gods and goddesses of the ancient Greeks.  Ever since I was a child, I would look up into the encyclopedia and highlight all the names of Greek gods and goddesses and read about their stories.  I am amazed of their mythical creatures like the Pegasus, I even wished that they would come alive.  My interest with the mythological creatures never ceased, so I was ecstatic to know that Clash of the Titans will be shown sometime 2010.  Today, the long wait for the movie to be shown has ended.  I watched the Clash of the Titans today and I must admit that I neither hate it or love it.  Having some knowledge of Greek mythology, I got confused a

Freelancing On the Internet

Just to clarify, I am not a "full time" freelancer ... confusing, eh?  I have an 8 to 5 job from Monday to Friday and a month ago, I stumbled upon this website that hires online talents.  I tried registering.  I passed their "entrance examination" with a grade above average and completed my profile so that prospective employers will have an idea about what they will get themselves into if they hire me.  To make my profile irresistible to employers, I took several skills test which includes knowledge of the English language, word processing, customer service, human resources, and other skills that I thought I know.  So far, so good. What led me to freelancing is plainly an accident that I do not regret.  It is something that I love to do that allows me to earn extra while I am at the comforts of my own home.  It doesn't interfere with my daily activities and each time I get a new job, it feels like being hired for the first time.  Although I am just a newbie in

Rice Please

Image
Image courtesy of zetty yada . Our family went to Tagaytay this afternoon just to have halo-halo at Razon's.  It is like going to Hongkong to eat at McDonald's... that's what I thought it would be.  Given that we had the most common Philippine dessert, I liked it.  After finishing the yummy treat, the elders went to the grocery to buy salad greens and steak for our swimming party on Saturday.  I followed them to buy diapers and something to eat because I am still hungry.  The halo-halo was a treat but that didn't made me full... I am hungry for something else... rice .  I need carbohydrates.  I didn't mention that I am still hungry but on our way home, my cousins were discussing about what to eat for dinner... they were hungry for rice, too.  I butt into their discussion, hoping that the elders would ask us to eat dinner, but no.   Home at last... but no rice. Asians are the biggest consumers of rice.  It is a staple in every Asian household particularly in t
